Palm Branches, Passover, and a Rising Call

Updated: Apr 18

This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. On this day, we remember the moment Jesus entered Jerusalem, riding humbly on a donkey as the crowds waved palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (John 12:13). It was a prophetic fulfillment and a declaration of hope. But even as people celebrated, dark forces were plotting His betrayal.

This Palm Sunday, we’ll be joined by our friend Olivier Melnick from Shalom in Messiah. He is a powerful voice for truth in these difficult times. As antisemitism rises globally, Olivier brings clarity, compassion, and conviction to this demonically driven ideology. I was privileged to join Olivier in Israel and partner with him in his ministry.

Tomorrow, we’ll also gather for a Passover Seder, a sacred celebration that reminds us of God’s faithfulness in delivering His people. It’s a tradition filled with symbolism, rich history, and prophetic layers pointing us directly to Jesus of Nazareth, the Lamb of God. In a time when Jewish identity is under attack, we as the Church must stand with Israel, honor the roots of our faith, and declare together: “Never again!” More importantly, we must be ready to share the Gospel of God’s only son to the Jewish community and non-believers in our community. We must be bold in sharing the truth of the Gospel.

Antisemitism is more than prejudice. It is a demonic hatred aimed at the people through whom God brought the Scriptures, the Messiah, and the future return of our King. As followers of Yeshua, we are called to speak out, stand up, and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. The war in Israel is ongoing, the sirens are still sounding, and an evil demonic agenda still rages against God’s chosen people.

This week, as we remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem and prepare for Resurrection Sunday, let’s also prepare our hearts:

  • To stand with our Jewish neighbors.

  • Pray they receive Yeshua as their messiah.

  • To confront lies with truth.

  • To look for the return of our King

Let this be a week of faithfulness, boldness, holiness, and gratitude for our hope in Christ. I look forward to seeing you Sunday. ~PB
