God's Providence Visible In the Miracle in Be'er Sheva

This past week, Israel narrowly avoided an unspeakable tragedy. Just 11 hours before Iran struck the Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva with a long-range missile, every patient—including newborns, the elderly, and the critically ill—had been evacuated. This was a clear miracle and a witness to God's providence and protection over His chosen people. Had hospital officials not heeded His voice, we would be mourning a massacre of innocents today.
Let this Esther-like protection of Israel sink in. Israel heard from God and relocated the sick and the vulnerable in ONLY the wing of the hospital that was hit. Iran, a nation steeped in hatred and murder, fired a missile straight at a civilian hospital. One side fights to preserve life. The other fights to destroy it. One side values the sanctity of every soul. The other side exalts a theology of martyrdom and death. Understand that the missiles being fired from Iran are not 'dumb' but are advanced missiles with targeting capabilities.
This is not a war of weapons. It is a war of worldviews. This global Islamic ideology, be it from Hamas or Iran or right here in America, is evil. And we must be willing to call it evil.
A War of Ideologies
Iran was emboldened and fueled by its apocalyptic religious ambitions and its hatred for Israel. The Islamic Republic continues to supply arms and strategy to terrorist proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah. Its stated goal is not territorial negotiation but annihilation of the State of Israel. The United States also funded the regime during the presidencies of Obama and Biden.
This war is not simply against a people, but against the God who chose them. Anti-Zionism is just a cloak for antisemitism. And antisemitism is more than prejudice—it is a demonic rage against God’s covenant and redemptive plan. The missile fired at Be’er Sheva was an act of hatred aimed at life itself, and the image of God stamped on every Jewish life.
A Light in the Darkness
Even as darkness targeted life, something extraordinary happened. Hours before the attack, Israeli medical personnel worked tirelessly to move patients to safety. There was no panic or chaos, but resolve, determination, and compassion. And in that act of evacuation, Israel once again demonstrated to the world that it is indeed the apple of God's eye. Understand they didn't evacuate the entire hospital, only the wing that was hit by the missile.
“I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life, that you and your offspring may live.” (Deut. 30:19)
Israel, despite its imperfections, continues to reveal the Divine to the world. As believers who are grafted into the olive tree and saved by the Jewish Messiah, we must stand with Israel, for the sanctity of life, and for God's truth.
What Can We Do?
It’s easy to feel helpless at times like these, but we must remember the Church is not powerless. We are blood-bought, Spirit-filled, and mission-bound children of God.
So what do we do?
1. We pray. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). Pray for Israeli soldiers, leaders, and civilians. Pray for those in Gaza suffering under Hamas’s evil. Pray for salvation to come to Jews and Arabs alike. And pray that Israeli leadership listen to the still, small voice of God.
2. We speak. Don’t let silence reign when truth should be proclaimed. Call out evil, expose lies, and stand against antisemitism in every form.
3. We support. Give, go, serve, and advocate. The Jewish people must know they’re not alone.
4. We help. There are currently over 50,000 Israelis stranded in the U.S., due to Israeli airspace being closed. If you would like to help by hosting someone in your home, contact me at pastorbrad@mycrossway.org.
5. We hope. We know how this story ends. Messiah is coming soon.
When the prophet Zechariah looked ahead to Israel’s darkest hour, he saw its ultimate deliverance: “Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle… On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives” (Zechariah 14:3-4).
Even though it seems these are perilous times, our God is not asleep. He is fully in control, and the day Zechariah detailed is coming soon. Yeshua is coming soon, and He will reign in perfect might and justice. Until then, the Church must be bold. We cannot be lukewarm nor lose heart. This is our hour to shine. Be faithful in prayer, fearless in witness, and fervent in hope.
The battle belongs to the Lord, and He never loses.
